The donation room is a revolving door where items come in and out on a daily basis to be dispersed to those who are desperately in need. Throughout the months of October through April the church receives a constant supply of donations from the hundreds of Americans and Canadians who visit Mazatlan every year. Important and useful items include gently-used clothing for all ages, shoes, socks, toiletries, blankets, bedding, towels, and school supplies (scissors, pens, pencils, erasers, crayons, glue). Each month we have a huge give-away to our 14 colonia ministry locations, and all the donated items are divided up equally amongst them. A team of volunteers meet monthly to help organize and pack up these items for distribution.
We are also in need of caps, gloves, small shampoos and soaps for the workers at the dump. As these supplies build up we send them out with the volunteers who go out on the weekly dump tours.
Donated toys, games and stuffed animals are used for the celebration in the spring called The Day of the Child and all jewelry, hair supplies, make-up and women’s personal items are given away to moms in May for Mother’s Day.
The Make a Child Smile program is always in need of toothbrushes, small toothpaste, new socks, small toys and 8 pack crayons for the 1000+ children who receive a brand new pair of shoes each year.
We also accept money donations, since we can buy many of these items in Mazatlan at a cost which is lower than in the US, Canada or other developed countries.
