Out at the city dump, people are living off the garbage from other people. These people scrounge through the garbage every day looking for recyclables to sell, items to make their homes better, and food to eat. We can see the desperate need of these people by taking one of the frequent dump tours. During the Vineyard tour of the city dump, tourists hand out sandwiches to the people working there.
When mission teams come we try to include at least one day where we take the Mobile Kitchen up to the dump and provide a hot meal for the people working there. We also take our Mobile Dental and Medical Clinic if the mission team has dental and/or medical personnel. We are passing out approximately 250 sandwiches and 250 bottles of water and oranges three times a week.
