Fred has the following to say about his book. “Over the years, I have witnessed people doing “stupid” things in missions, despite having read the popular books on the subject. This book is not a profound theological work, but it does deal with practical issues such as money, conduct, and attitude. I have seen intelligent people who have read all the books on missions behaving as “Dumb Gringos,” without realizing the damage they were doing.” You can purchase a paperback copy for $6.00 (plus $4.00 shipping & handling) by calling the Mazatlan office or sending an email to us (click HERE for contact information). Author’s Profile: The author began his ministry in Central Mexico where he pioneered several churches in towns where no evangelical church had been successfully planted before. At times, the opposition to his ministry included death threats. In 1981, he and his wife and three-month-old daughter were hit head-on by a drunk driver. They were all severely injured and were air lifted out of Mexico in serious condition. Rumors spread that his short missions career was over. However, a few months later, they returned to Mexico.
In his twenty-five years of experience working in Mexico, he has been involved in planting eighteen churches. He has also established nine children’s feeding centers, started four medical/dental clinics, and set up a school for the children of the “dump scroungers.” His ministry operates mobile clinics and mobile kitchens that minister to the poor. He has also developed a program that helps short-term missions groups be successful in their endeavors.
