This is a program to provide education support for children from preschool through high school (or even college, in some cases). It has been established only for the extremely needy children of all ages and without it, some children would be unable to attend school. The children selected are from homes in extreme financial duress, often single parent homes or homes where an illness depletes the finances. For $130 USD a child receives a uniform, socks and underthings, shoes, school supplies and a new backpack. Their tuition is paid [directly to their school] for one year. The children attend a public school in their neighborhood and most of them attend one of our feeding centers so we can keep track of how they are doing and offer guidance when needed. Also, the program is supervised by an administrator and a field supervisor to insure that sponsored students are in school and the money is being used properly.
