We have had a busy spring. April 18-22 we delivered 421 packets of school supplies as well as shoe vouchers to each sponsored child in our program.
Because we were not able to deliver shoes last year due to the Covid19 pandemic we increased the amount of the shoe vouchers this year to allow kids to select 2 or even 3 pairs of shoes. Imagine their excitement!
Thanks to your generosity May 24-27 we also able to put together and distribute 800 bags of staple groceries to the families in the colonias. A group of volunteers from the the Spanish church and colonia churches put the bags together. The bags contained 12 items such as rice, beans, oil, tuna, and more. They were distributed by the colonia leaders.
In July we bought $350,000 pesos or $18,000 USD worth of food vouchers and on July 10 we began distributing food vouchers to the 673 children in our sponsorship program.
In addition, April through June we served 5000 meals at the city dump and 1000 meals at the General Hospital.
