The Death of an Orchestra

Updated: Mar 8, 2021

We had Hoped

Before the Pandemic we were so excited about our children's orchestra. They were doing a few short concerts. Like the disciples on the road to Emmaus (Luke 24:21) believing that Jesus was dead uttered the famous words " But we had hoped that he was the one."

32 kids from a poor colonia in Mazatlán were developing into an orchestra. We had hoped to see them become a 1st class orchestra but then things came to a stop. What we hoped for would not happen.

One Year Later

Now as we are planning to restart, we find out that because of COVID-19 more than half of those involved in the orchestra no longer live in the colonia. With families without work many had to move or live with relatives. We felt like we had lost a dear friend.

They Will Raise Again

We are determined to push ahead because we believe this project was inspired by God who had the right people in the right place at the right time.

Our Plan

On February 28 we will have an outdoor concert with the remaining children. The event will be held in the colonia Loma Bonita in front of our community center where the music class are held. We will have a sign up sheet for any children who would like to be part of the orchestra.

Please pray that enough new children will join the orchestra

Post Concert Update

The concert was a great blessing. Here are some pictures and video.
