program-works2.jpgThe Vineyard Child Sponsorship Program is administered through our Community Centers of Hope. It is designed to feed the whole child. It provides food for their bodies, minds and spirits. By feeding their mind, body, and spirit, we are helping to break the cycle of poverty that plagues these families.

We feed their mind by working with the parents to encourage school attendance and participation. We feed their body by providing access to 48 healthy meals each year. We feed their spirit by showing the children they are loved and valued by God and by people.

How we deliver our benefits at a minimal cost

Our programs are focused on children in the 4 -14 age window whom we have the greatest chance to reach with the Gospel message and to develop a positive trajectory for their lives.

WE HAVE A UNIQUE APPROACH THAT ALLOWS US TO DELIVER THESE EFFECTIVE PROGRAMS AT MINIMAL COST, WHILE DELIVERING THE VAST MAJORITY OF FUNDS DIRECTLY TO THE CHILDREN:

  1. Established Community Centers of Hope in each of the cities in which we operate.
  2. Passionate local leadership
  3. A large dedicated volunteer team
  4. No leadership salaries used from sponsorship funds
  5. Operating expenses identified by individual program i.e. transportation, materials, community center maintenance.

SPONSORSHIP DETAILS:

Cost:

$15 per month sponsors one child and supports the Community Centers

VCS Priorities:

1. Our first priority as we launch VCS Plus will remain the Sponsored Child.
The new program will assure children receive the same benefits regardless of inflation, currency fluctuations or devaluations.

In other words, if the dollar goes down, we won’t decrease any of the benefits (like reduce the amount of school supplies) to make up the difference. If the dollar goes up in value, it will provide more money for the overall program. Big swings either way may happen during the course of a year. $8 is an approximate cost. If the cost is less than $8 because of a weak peso, the extra funds will go for Community Center needs. If the cost exceeds $8, the child’s benefits will remain the same.

2. Our second priority will be to provide the resources to feed the Moms who bring kids and to feed any unsponsored children who come. (We have a separate feeding fund that is used to feed unsponsored children, but it has run out from time to time. When that happens, under the new VCS Plus, the moms and children will be covered by any extra funds.)

3. Our third priority is to better maintain the Community Centers and the overall program
General Maintenance (painting, repairs, etc.)
Unfinished construction (bathrooms, kitchens, etc.)
Add-on classrooms and other construction needs
Kitchens (pots and pans, stoves, propane tanks, refrigerators, etc.)
Children’s teaching materials, sound systems, video projectors, etc.

4. Our final priority is to have money to maintain VCS Plus. This would include the costs associated with software/programming for the online website, as well as hardware upgrades that may be needed. Costs also include utilities, property taxes (churches are not exempt in Mexico), and purchasing/maintaining office equipment and vehicles used in the program.

All expenses are covered on the basis of Priority. We start with our first priority, then move down the list, covering what we can with the available funds. Extra monies that come in will go where needed, based on these priorities.
